FilmBase Support

FilmBase is a personal film and TV ledger: rate what you watch, keep lists, and follow your own stats and missions. It has no accounts and no server, so everything lives on your device.

For questions, bug reports or suggestions, email hushwork.apps@gmail.com. Please include your device model and the app version from Settings → Version.

If something went wrong, Settings → Diagnostics shows the errors the app recorded on your device. Attaching that log to your email helps a great deal. It is only sent if you choose to send it.

Backing up your library

Your ratings and lists are stored only on your device, so deleting the app deletes them unless you have a backup.

• iPhone: turn on Settings → Auto Backup to keep a copy in your iCloud Drive, in a folder named FilmBase. Restore it with Settings → Restore from iCloud.
• Android: connect Google Drive under Settings → Auto Backup. The backup goes in a FilmBase folder in your own Drive. Restore it with Settings → Restore from Google Drive.
• Any device: Settings → Export / Backup saves a backup file (.json) wherever you choose, or a spreadsheet (.xlsx). Settings → Restore from File brings a backup file back.

Moving to a new phone

On the old phone, use Export / Backup → Backup File (.json) and move the file to the new one. On the new phone, install FilmBase and use Restore from File. This also works between iPhone and Android.

Film and TV information

Titles, posters and details come from The Movie Database (TMDB). If a title's information is wrong, it can be corrected at themoviedb.org, and FilmBase will pick up the change. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
