FilmBase is a personal film and TV rating app published by Hushwork. This policy describes what information the app handles and where it goes. The short version: FilmBase has no accounts, runs no servers of its own, and does not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Your data stays on your device unless you choose to back it up to your own iCloud Drive (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android), or to a file you save yourself.
Your ratings, library, watch history, and app preferences are stored in a local database on your device. This data is not transmitted to Hushwork or to any third party by the app. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
To show film and show details, posters, and related metadata, the app sends requests to The Movie Database (TMDB) API. These requests include your search terms and the standard technical information any internet request carries, such as your IP address. They do not include your ratings, your library, or any account identifier. TMDB's handling of requests is described in the TMDB privacy policy. Trailer links open in the YouTube app or your browser, outside FilmBase. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
On iPhone you can turn on automatic backup to iCloud. The backup file is written to a FilmBase folder in your own iCloud Drive, using your Apple Account. Hushwork has no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's privacy policy. You can turn backup off in Settings, and delete the folder in the Files app.
On Android you can back up your library to your own Google Drive by signing in with your Google account. The app requests the narrowest Drive permission that fits the job (drive.file): it can only see and change files FilmBase itself created, which in practice is the one backup file, kept in a FilmBase folder in your Drive. It cannot see, read, or modify any of your other Drive files. Hushwork has no access to your backup, your Google account, or your Drive. You can revoke the app's access at any time in your Google account's security settings, and delete the backup like any other file in your Drive.
Export / Backup can save your library as a file or open it in your mail app so you can send it to yourself. Settings → Diagnostics can open an email containing the app's error log. In both cases nothing is sent unless you send it yourself, and it goes only to the address you choose.
On Android the app occasionally reads a small public file from this website to tell you when a newer version is available. The request sends nothing about you or your library beyond the technical information any internet request carries.
FilmBase contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. It does not collect device identifiers, location, contacts, or any personal information. It has no user accounts and no server operated by Hushwork.
FilmBase is not directed at children under 13. Film and TV metadata is supplied by TMDB and may include titles intended for mature audiences.
If the app's behavior changes in a way that affects this policy, the updated policy will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
